The 224 EcoSpace Announces two August Community Events Supporting Families and Local Commerce
Hartford, CT [August 11, 2025] — The 224 EcoSpace, in partnership with HEDCO, Inc., will host two late-August events designed to support local families heading into the school year and to energize neighborhood commerce in Hartford and Windsor.
Event 1 — Building Bright Futures Block Party
Date/Time: Sunday, August 24, 2025, 1:00 PM–5:00 PM
Location: 280 Windsor Ave., Windsor, CT
A joyful, high-impact afternoon for children ages 4–14 and their families featuring a backpack giveaway with essential supplies, free haircuts and hairstyles to boost first-day confidence, a bounce house with cotton candy and snow cones, creative activities, and a free meal for every child who receives a backpack, courtesy of Just Fish.

Event 2 — Culture & Commerce Pop-Up
Date/Time: Saturday, August 30, 2025, 12:00 PM–4:00 PM
Location: The 224 EcoSpace, 224 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT
An outdoor marketplace showcasing food trucks and local vendors, focused on entrepreneurship and neighborhood vitality.

How to help before August 24
Our goal is 80 new backpacks; the current count is 30. The 224 EcoSpace is accepting school supplies (notebooks, pencils, pens, crayons, colored pencils, markers, glue sticks, folders, binders, rulers, erasers), hygiene kits (toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo, hand sanitizer), event items (party décor, tablecloths, balloons, streamers, art materials for kids’ activities), haircut and hairstyle station needs (towels, booster seats, hair products/tools), and refreshments (bottled water and ice), as well as volunteers to assist with setup, activities, and cleanup.
Donations may be dropped off at The 224 EcoSpace, 224 Farmington Ave., Hartford, Monday–Saturday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM.
