The Caf by Cafeteria Opens Flagship Store in Hartford

Downtown Hartford just got even better with the opening of The Caf, a men’s and women’s fashion boutique located at 229 Trumbull Street. The Caf had its grand opening event with the Hartford Chamber of Commerce on June 17.

“There are so many new businesses coming to Hartford adding to the city’s vibrancy,” noted Marian Andoh, Director of Small Business Development at the Chamber. “What’s great about The Caf is the tie to local makers and creators.”

The Caf stocks local brands as well as goods from national and international brands to create a local spot for customers who would otherwise need to buy online. The store’s décor is filled with references and pops of artwork, designed in partnership with local artist Mercury. The theme references highway rest stops, a playful nod to the changes happening as the region begins to reimagine what downtown Hartford is and will be in the future.

The idea for The Caf was piloted during Winterfair, the Hartford holiday market series hosted by Breakfast Lunch & Dinner. The Caf was an installation for local designers to create a presence during the pop-up-driven holiday market. The pilot’s success encouraged the team to find a way to make a permanent home for the concept.
