Owner & CEO Kenniel Martin shared about the importance of locating his business in Hartford and becoming a Hartford Chamber of Commerce member.Why did you join the Hartford Chamber of Commerce? What’s the value? KENNIEL MARTIN: The value of the Hartford Chamber of Commerce can be described as a partnership of businesses and professionals working together to build a healthy economy and improve the quality of life in the Hartford community.Why Hartford? How did you decide on the location for your business?KENNIEL: While Hartford is the capital of Connecticut, it’s also among the largest cities in the state. It’s a great location for SX as it has a diverse customer base. Many entertainment establishments that would make for a great partnership with SX are located in Hartford.As a Greater Hartford resident, I’m quite familiar with the community. I’m an alumnus of Weaver High School and the University of Hartford. I also run a youth soccer program in Hartford, which allows me to support and give back to our community. There’s no other community I would chose to invest in other than Hartford.Tell us about the neighborhood and what makes it unique.KENNIEL: The downtown Hartford area is among the most unique within Connecticut. It’s known as Hartford’s main business district. Downtown is also home to theaters, large venues such as the XL Center Arena, and restaurants.What is the best thing about working in Hartford?KENNIEL: The best thing about working in Hartford is the large amount of individuals you interact with.
